That we are connected to the ancient Etruscan capital of Volterra, in Montalcinello, even the stones know it.
And so we went, on a mission.
In Volterra I couldn't help but enter the atelier of Michele Nardiello, who continues to paint in search of his companion. Everything in there is dedicated to this search.
And in the atelier, I was struck by this painting, which, like the mint in the past, is now in Montalcinello. I saw a path in it.
This lumpy style is called material abstractionism, “which invites you to delve into the work until your gaze goes beyond the surface, which from two-dimensional becomes bas-relief, but also sculpture. […] Then there is gold, like a vein or a nugget, as it might have appeared to a seeker of the precious metal. The gold appears, gleaming, a lava flow that does not destroy but enriches.” (Sergio Borghesi, 2024)
