Have you read La Nazione? It seems that wolves in Siena have become such city dwellers that they're asking for the set menu. The reason? "They find food resources." And we, as good Tuscan hosts, what have we come up with for the semi-mountain villages that are even more at risk? Organic waste with stew left right outside the door.
Just as we wonder how not to turn Siena into an open-air zoo, here comes "progress" signed Sei Toscana for Montalcinello: door-to-door collection.
Here is the plan for the bin safari:
The Welcome Stew: It's not garbage, it's free catering for the local wildlife. Why make a wild boar work hard in the woods when it can conveniently unwrap a leftover ribollita right in front of our doorstep?
The Praise of Slowness: Before, the truck would come by, load everything in three minutes, and off it went. Too simple. Now the service will last for hours, stop after stop, bin after bin. A scenic tour of our alleys that even cruise passengers in Livorno don't get.
The Impossible Algorithm: And here comes the touch of political genius. More staff employed, more working hours, more logistics... and the cost? It will decrease! Certainly. The wolves will probably pay the difference with the proceeds from their YouTube channels.
